Cornish Colony Doco Secures Debut

The Valley News reports that Norwich director Nora Jacobson is nearing a preview screening of a part of her upcoming documentary about the art scene surrounding sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Gaudens, who resided in Cornish in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, was the center of a Gilded Age movement of artists with a Dionysian love of the past; devotees of the "colony" that surrounded Gaudens include renowned painter Maxfield Parrish.

A 26-minute cut of LANDS AND LEGACY OF AN ART COLONY which The Valley News says Jacobson spent a week shooting last summer at the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, will show Tuesday April 17 at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park in Woodstock. From there it will tour to other Upper Valley locations.
