Looking to fill a major painpoint in Vermont's tech ecosystem, Burlington Code Academy seeks to suit up developer cohorts for open programming positions. Launching their first 12-week boot camp on June 4, the hands-on course offers instruction in web application basics including HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, and Node.js.

Organized around a three-module curriculum, the boot camp provides an introduction to fundamental concepts of programming, tools and practices used in high-performance companies, and student projects. The Academy also provides networking and mentoring opportunities.

According to its website, the Burlington Code Academy has lined up hiring partners to help its graduates line up jobs. Companies include the startup Packetized Energy, NRJ Systems and instructor Alex Chaffee's company Carbon Five. A 50 percent discount is available to the first cohort of programming novitiates.
